This annual event gives everyone the chance to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors! Enjoy the scenery, get some exercise, and breathe in some fresh air as you take advantage of the thousands of miles of trails in the U.S.

Whether you’re new to hiking or a seasoned pro, National Take A Hike Day is the perfect opportunity to venture out with your friends or loved ones to experience God’s stunning creation together. If you’re local to Dothan, here are a few trails you might be interested in checking out!

Forever Wild Trails features a 10-mile trail system consisting of six separate trail loops linked together by connectors/bridges. It’s perfect for both hiking and biking and is located right here within the Dothan city limits!

Callaway Gardens is a fun little spot located in Pine Mountain, GA. Callaway Gardens is located about two and a half hours from Dothan. You will be intrigued right off the bat by Callaway Garden’s spectacular scenery and soothing atmosphere. Callaway offers exciting tree top adventures, hiking and biking trails, a butterfly center, actual gardens you can tour, fishing, and lots more. You can also stay at Callaway Gardens overnight at their resort if you want to make a weekend out of it!

Cheaha State Park is the trail for you if you’re really up for an adventure and want to travel somewhere special to hike and enjoy the outdoors. This state park is located about 3.5 hours from Dothan and is surrounded completely by the Talladega National Forest. It’s known as the highest point in Alabama due to it being located on top of Cheaha Mountain. Experience the breathtaking views and absolute tranquility at Cheaha State Park; there are many trails and nature walks that you can experience here! If you’re looking to stay the night or make a weekend of it, Cheaha State Park offers a resort on site.
